SWIMTULSA PRACTICE GROUPS

***All Groups require a tryout and/or coach approval in order to register.

Senior Team: Coached by Lynne Gorman

The Senior Team is our highest level of swimming and consists of 13-14 AA swimmers and 15-Over swimmers who are fully qualified for Senior State and pursuing opportunities in Senior Swimming.  They should demonstrate the highest level of leadership and good attitudes keeping with the USA Swimming American Development Model for Character and Confidence.

Attendance: Swimmers should be fully committed to the sport and attend practices regularly including all mornings when offered. 

Competition: Fully attending every meet you commit to, that means swimming in all sessions and a full list of events.  The meets you attend should be discussed with your coach so you can chart your seasonal path. Championship meet attendance will be expected at this level. You will discuss with your coach which meet will be your championship focus.

 

Senior Development: Coached by Lynne Gorman

Senior Development consists of 13-14 year old fully qualified state swimmers along with 15-over Division 2 swimmers. These swimmers are pursuing higher level goals.They are encouraged to attend morning practices when offered. They should demonstrate leadership, good attitudes, as always, keeping with the USA Swimming American Development Model for Character and Confidence.

Attendance: At this level we expect swimmers to attend have consistent attendace as well as one morning a week when they are offered.

Competition: Fully attending every meet you commit to, that means swimming in all sessions and a full list of events.  The meets you attend should be discussed with your coach so you can chart your seasonal path. Championship meet attendance will be expected at this level. You will discuss with your coach which meet will be your championship focus.

 

GOLD TEAM: Coached by Megan Hall

Gold team consists of 13-14 D2 swimmers and all new 13 and over swimmers who are pursuing competitive and high school swimming. Practices will be 2 hours and include drylands. This group will be learning stroke technique as well as how to run a practice and how swim meets work. They will also be learning the USA Swimming American Development Model for Character and Confidence. Competition at this level will be expected every other month

Attendance:  At this level we expect swimmers to attend 3 weekday practices and Saturdays when offered. Swimmers should not be dry 3 days in a row. 

Competition: We will expect them to attend at least one session of a meet every 2 months and all sessions of the championship meet they qualify for.

BLUE TEAM: Coached by Johanna Slaysman

Graduates of SwimTulsa's White Team and/or experienced competitive swimmers are eligible for this group with coach approval. This training group focuses on further development of competitive swimming skills in a challenging and fun environment. The goal is to become more independent in their swimming in preparation for senior-level swimming.

Attendance: Ideally, Blue team should practice at least 3-4 days per week. More if you can. Attendance is not a requirement at this level. If you have high-level goals, your practice attendance should reflect those goals.

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming. Meet attendance is expected at this level, and swimmers should be attending 2-3 sessions of a meet each month and at least one championship meet (D2's or State). Swimmers strive to be successful in all events offered in their age group and work to establish and improve their IMX scores.

WHITE TEAM:  Coached by Alexus Hamilton

Graduates of the SwimAmericaTM Stroke Team or new swimmers who have mastered swimming 25 meters of all four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle), can do a standing dive, and are able to do a somersault underwater are eligible for this group. This training group focuses on improving stroke technique, learning starts and turns, and understanding competitive swimming.

 

Attendance: White team swimmers should practice 2-3 times per week to be competition ready. Practice attendance is not required at this level. The more you come, the better you get.

 

Competition: This level will strive to attend at least one session of a meet each month and to make it to a championship meet, either D2's or State.
